ISRO Won Space Pioneer Award For Mangalyaan Mars Orbiter Mission

The country’s low-cost Mangalyaan Mars orbiter mission which is in rendezvous with the Red Planet for an extended period has been presented with the Space Pioneer award for the year 2015 by the US’ National Space Society. Space Pioneer award for the year 2015 was presented to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the Science and Engineering category during the 34th Annual International Space Development Conference held at Toronto in Canada.

MK Sharma Appointed As Non-Executive Chairman of ICICI Bank

Mahendra Kumar Sharma, the former vice-president of Hindustan Unilever (HUL), has been appointed the non-executive chairman of ICICI Bank. M.K.Sharma will succeed KV Kamath, who would step down from the Board to take on a bigger role as the first President of New Development Bank, established by the BRICS nations. He was earlier the Vice Chairman of Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL). Sharma was also an independent Director on the Board of ICICI Bank for eight years from 2003 to 2011 and is an independent director of several companies. Sharma will have tenure of 5 years.

Haryana’s Jind, Karnal and UP’s Muzaffarnagar Included In NCR

Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on 9 June announced that Jind and Karnal districts of Haryana and Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh have been included in the National Capital Region (NCR). With this the total number of districts included in NCR has risen to 22. It now includes 13 districts from Haryana (Faridabad, Gurgaon, Mewat, Rohtak, Sonepat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Panipat, Palwal, Mahendragarh (Narnaul), Bhiwani, Jind and Karnal), 6 districts from Uttar Pradesh (Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Gautam Budh Nagar, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar) and 2 districts from Rajasthan (Alwar and Bharatpur), apart from Delhi.
