Final Nepal-India EPG Meeting Concludes
The ninth & final meeting of Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Nepal-India Relations concluded in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Representatives from Nepal and India deliberated upon various bilateral issues including 1950 Peace and Friendship treaty, trade, transit and border during the two-day meeting.


Janardan Singh Gehlot elected International Kabaddi Federation Chief
It was announced that Janardan Singh Gehlot was elected as chief of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) for the next 04 years. This announcement was made after the Annual General Congress (AGC) of IKF. Observer and Director of International Affairs Olympic Council of Asia Vinod Tiwari also took part in the AGC.


Surat jewellers make 28 crore rupees ring
Surat-based jewellers Vishal Agarwal & Khushbu Agarwal manufactured a ring containing 6,690 diamonds, registering the Guinness world record for ‘Most diamonds set in one ring’. The ring is 18 karat rose gold structure, shaped like a lotus flower. The previous record of 3,827 diamonds was set by Jaipur-based Savio Jewellery.


Antonio Vitorino from Portugal elected as new Director
Antonio Manuel de Carvalho Ferreira Vitorino of Portugal was elected by the member States of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to serve as the agency’s Director General. He succeeds William Lacy Swing of the United States, who will have served two five-year terms as IOM chief. Established in 1951, IOM had been an observer to the UN since 1992.


Mumbai is 5th-least punctual airport
According to the British aviation intelligence firm OAG, Mumbai is the fifth-least punctual airport in the world in terms of on-time performance out of 513 airports. Japan’s Nagoya Komaki airport was ranked the best with 94.5% on-time performance during the 12-month period.


Dutee Chand sets national record in women’s 100m
Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has set a new national record in the women’s 100-metre race at the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships held at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati. She clocked 11.29 seconds to beat her own previous record of 11.30 seconds which she achieved at the Indian Grand Prix in 2017.


Abu Dhabi ‘Smartest City’ in Middle East
Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has topped the list of “smart cities” in the Middle East and Africa, according to the Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism. Covering 50 international cities, a report by McKinsey Global Institute titled “Smart Cities: Digital Solutions for a More Livable Future” views how cities all over the world use technology to improve the quality of life.


July 01: National Doctors Day
The first day of the month of July is observed as the Doctors Day in India. The day is observed to express gratitude & acknowledge the dedication & Commitment of the doctors towards our society. Doctors Day in India was established by the Govt of India in 1991 to be recognised & celebrated every year in 1st July as National Doctors day.
