AN Jha Replaces Shaktikanta Das as 15th Finance Commission Member
Former Finance Secretary Ajay Narayan Jha has joined as a member of the 15th Finance Commission. Jha has been posted in place of Shaktikanta Das who had resigned as a member of the Commission after being appointed the RBI Governor. Jha is a 1982-batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre. He was retired as a Finance Secretary to the central government.


Macky Sall elected as Senegal’s President for the second term
Senegalese President Macky Sall has won re-election without the need for a second round of voting, giving him five more years in office. Sall, the incumbent president ultimately received 58.27 percent of the vote. Senegal has long been a democratic example in West Africa where coups and clinging to power used to be all too common.


India-Bangladesh joint military exercise ‘Sampriti 2019’ starts in Tangail
As part of the ongoing India Bangladesh defence cooperation, a joint military exercise Sampriti-2019 will be conducted at Tangail, Bangladesh. Exercise Sampriti-2019 is an important bilateral defence cooperation endeavour between India and Bangladesh and this will be the eighth edition of the exercise which is hosted alternately by both countries.


India Signs Deal With Russian Firm to Produce 7.5 Lakh AK-203 Rifles
India has signed a deal with a Russian firm to manufacture 7.5 lakh AK-203 rifles. These are the latest derivative of the AK-47 rifles. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the AK-203 rifles will be produced at the Indian Ordnance Factory at Amethi’s Korwa.


Bharti AXA General Insurance Claims The ‘Non-Life Insurer of the Year Award 2019’
ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), which is one of the apex trade associations of India has conferred ‘Non-Life Insurer of the Year Award 2019′ to Bharti AXA General Insurance. It is a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and French insurance giant AXA.


Shashank Shekhar wins 10 km race of Nepal’s COAS Open Marathon and Run for Fun in Kathmandu
India’s Shashank Shekhar won the 10 kilometre race of Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Open Marathon and Run for Fun held in Kathmandu. Shekhar of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Contingent at Embassy of India in Kathmandu secured first position.

The Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 has secured place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest crowd management, largest sanitation drive and largest painting exercise of public sites. Around 503 shuttle buses were pressed into service on the highway in one go for the team.


American Actor Luke Perry Passes Away
American actor Luke Perry has passed away in California at the age of 52, less than a week after suffering a massive stroke. The actor rose to fame for his roles in ‘Beverly Hills 90210′ and ‘Riverdale’.
