Former IFS, MP Syed Shahabuddin dies at 82

Former IFS, MP Syed Shahabuddin dies at the age of 82n on 4th March. Shahabuddin breathed his last at a hospital in Noida. He died following a prolonged illness. Shahabuddin had strongly stood against the destruction of the Babri Masjid during his time. He was also the leader of the Babri Action Committee. Shahabuddin Served three terms from 1979-1996 as an M.P.


Thomas E Starzl, Pioneering liver surgeon passes away

Dr. Thomas E Starzl, a surgeon who performed the first successful liver transplant in 1967 on a human patient, passed away on 4th March 2017 in Pittsburgh. He was 90. Dr. Starzl death was announced by the University of Pittsburgh. He had been affiliated with the University since 1980. He was an expert on organ transplants. He is often referred to as “the father of modern transplantation’.


SERB Fellowship Award to Lalji Singh

Lalji Singh, former Director,the center for cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) has been selected for the award of SERB Fellowship. It is given by the science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) which is a statutory body of the Government of India. The Award supports research of scientists who are active and performing even after superannuation.


Andy Murray won first Dubia Championship title

Andy Murray beats Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 6-2 to win Dubai Tennis Championship. With this he became the first British Man to win the Dubai Championships in 25 years of history. It is Murray’s first tournament win of 2017 and 45th of his career. Which will see him extend his lead over Novak Djokovic at the top of the rankings.


South Korea and America Begin Annual Military Drill Foat Eagle

The United States and South Korea troops started their large scale military drill named Foal Eagle. The aim of the military exercise is to test their defence readiness against the threat from North Korea. North Korea Conducted its first ballistic missile test of 2017 in February and views the Foal Eagle Exercise 2017 as Preparation for war against it.
