Former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray Passes Away

Rabi Ray, former Speaker of Lok Sabha, passed away on 6 March 2017 after a prolonged illness in Cuttack. He was 91. Ray was also an eminent socialist Politician, a Gandhian, and also served as a former Union Minister. Under the leadership of Ram Manohar Lohia, Ray founded the Socialist Party in Orissa in 1956.


Syrian troops with Russian support recaptured historic city of Palmyra

Syrian troops backed by Russian jets recently recaptured the historic city of Palmyra from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Palmyra was first seized by the militant group in May 2015. After capturing the city. UNESCO world heritage site was destroyed systematically. The city was listed in UNESCO’s world heritage site for hosting numerous ancient monuments and temples.


MP Veerendra Kumar presented Moortidevi Award

Eminent Malayalam Author and Journalist, M.P. Veerendra Kumar was presented the 30th Moortidevi Award by Bharatiya Jnanpith organisation. Kumar was chosen for the prestigious award for his Malayalam Travelogue “Hymavatha Bhoovi” It dwells upon ancient trails of Indian culture, myth, literature, and people strewn in the plains, valleys, and mountains of India.


Tribal Festival “Bhagoria” begins in Madhya Pradesh

Bhagoria Festival, also known as Bhagoria Haat festival, celebrated by the tribal people of the Indian State Madhya Pradesh began on March 6, 2017 in Jhabua district. The Festival which has been organised at 34 places in the state is celebrated in the month of March before the Holi Festival by the local tribes called Bhils and Bhilalas. The week long festival is organised to select their life partners by Swayamvara.


PM Modi to Release Special Commemorative Postage Stamp

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release Commemorative Postage Stamp on 100th Anniversary of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India at a function in New Delhi. Yogoda Satsanga Society in a non-profit religious organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917. Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) celebrated its 100 years journey on 10th March 2017.
