Aswin and Jadeja jointly rank Number one in ICC Test Rankings

India’s Ravichandran Aswin and Ravindra Jadeja on 8 March 2017 became the first pair of spinners to be jointly top ranked in the MRF Tyres ICC player rankings for the Test Bowlers. The rankings released a day after the second test against (Australia in Bengaluru. Jadeja’s seven wickets in the match helped him move up one rank to reach the top position for the first time in his career. Before Aswin and Jadeja. Dale steyn Muttiah Muralidaran shared the top spot in April 2008.


Veteran Journalist Arvind Padmanabhan Passes Away

The Veteran Journalist Arvind Padmanabhan, who was associated with the news agency IANS as an Executive Editor has died of cardiac arrest in New Delhi on 8th March. Arvind has taken his last breath at the Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi. He was associated with IANS for a long time, he had jointed IANS in 1999. Although, he has also worked with The Times of India. TV 18 and PTI.


IDFC Bank launches Aadhar Pay system

IDFC Bank on 8th March launched the Biometric based Aadhaar Pay Payment system. Aaadhaar pay service is for merchants which will enable them to receive Aaadhaar-enable payments by passing credit and debit cards, Pin and Password. The Biometric reader is currently available for Rs.2,000. With the introduction of first of its kind, the bank targets to bring around 50,000, 75,000 merchants on board by 2019 and total touching 1 lakh merchants in three years.


Viola Davis honoured with “Artist of the year”

Viola Davis, the actress who took home some of this year’s biggest awards, was honoured with the Harvard Foundation “Artist of the year 2017 Award” at Harvard’s 32nd cultural Rhymes Festival in Cambridge on 4 March 2017. On this occasion, S Allen counter, director of Harvard Foundation said that the foundation’s students and faculty were delighted to present the award to Davis, the much acclaimed film and television artist, who has made outstanding contributions to American and International films.


Cultural Festival “India by the Nile” to begin in Egypt

The meg cultural festival “India by the Nile” got off to a colourful start at the foot of the Pyramids in Cairo with a Crafts Mela. Show casing joint handicraft exhibition of India and Egypt. India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Sanjay Bhattacharya said the event is a special moment as this year India celebrate 70 years of Independence and also 70 years of its diplomatic relation with Egypt.
