Mahesh Reddy takes over as PHDCCI Secretary-General
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has announced that Mahesh Y Reddy has taken over as its Secretary General with immediate effect. He holds 28 years of experience in national level trade, infrastructure and industry bodies in various capacities, the chamber said in a statement.


Delhi, Moscow sign twin-city agreement
Delhi government signed a twin-city agreement with the government of Moscow for cooperation in various fields like environment, culture and education, for the next 3 years. The agreement was signed by Minister of the Moscow City government and head of its international relations Sergey Cheremin and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.


HDFC Bank appoints Vinay Razdan as Chief Human Resources Officer
HDFC Bank has appointed Vinay Razdan as its chief human resources officer (CHRO). Vinay Razdan will be responsible for the complete human resource operations in HDFC Bank. Previously, he was CHRO in Idea Cellular. He had joined Idea in 2006.


Singapore ranks first in World Bank Human Capital Index
Singapore has emerged as the top among the 157 countries and territories in the inaugural World Bank Human Capital Index (HCI), which measures the human capital that a child born today can expect to attain by the age of 18. The index defines human capital as the knowledge, skills, and health that people accumulate over their lives.


Archer Harvinder Singh clinches Seventh Gold for India
Archer Harvinder Singh notched up the men’s individual recurve gold, while track-and-field athletes added a silver and a bronze to India’s tally in the Asian Para-Games in Jakarta. Harvinder defeated China’s Zhao Lixue 6-0 in the W2/ST category final to claim the top honors and take India’s gold tally to seven.


Environmentalist GD Agarwal passes away
Environmentalist G.D. Agarwal, who was on a fast for the last 111 days demanding a clean Ganga, passed away after a heart attack in Rishikesh. The 86-year old former IIT-Kanpur professor, Agarwal had been on hunger strike for a pollution-free and uninterrupted flow in the Ganga.


NHB increases refinance limit from Rs 24,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore
National Housing Bank (NHB) has decided to increase the Refinance Limit from Rs. 24,000 crore to Rs.30,000 crore for the Current Year (July 2018-June 2019) towards refinancing eligible institutions. Now, eligible Housing Finance Companies & Other entities will have increased availability of funds.


Former Pakistan left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman retires from international cricket
Former Pakistan left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman announced his retirement from international cricket.Abdur Rehman is 38 years old. He made his debut at the age of 26. He has scored 99 wickets in 22 Tests. He has also taken 30 wickets in 31 one-days and 8 wickets in 11 Twenty20 internationals.
