Nepal nominated Nilambar Acharya as ambassador to India
The Nepal government nominated Nilambar Acharya, the former Law Minister and senior politician, as Ambassador to India. If elected, he will replace Deep Kumar Upadhyay who resigned October last year. Mr.Achayra a former envoy to Sri Lanka, currently coordinates the Nepal side of the Eminent Persons Group on Nepal-India relations.


Jawahar Lal Sarin conferred with France’s Highest Civilian Honour
Jawahar Lal Sarin, president of the governing body of Alliance Francaise, was conferred with France’s highest civilian honor by French Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler at an event.


3 IRS officers- PK Dash, Akhilesh Ranjan & Neena Kumar inducted as members of CBDT
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appointed 3 IRS officers as the members of CBDT. The members are P K Dash, Akhilesh Ranjan & Neena Kumar. They are the 1982-batch of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers.


China taps India as digital economy partner
China has involved India as a digital partner, as part of Beijing’s drive to cyber-connect with Eurasia, its new frontier for trade and investments. At a conference on defining common international standards for two-dimensional (2D) barcodes, Chinese officials announced that India is already on board in this global exercise.


Harmanpreet Kaur becomes first Indian women to hit century in T20I cricket
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur became the first ever Indian woman to smash a hundred in T20I cricket, achieving the feat against New Zealand in the Women’s World T20 2018. The 29-year-old scored 103 runs off 51 balls, which included eight sixes and seven fours. Further, Harmanpreet is only the third cricketer to smash a century in Women’s World T20.


Third ‘Quadrilateral’ meeting to be held in Singapore
Officials from 4 countries (Quad) – Australia, India, Japan and the United States will hold the third “Quadrilateral” or Quad meeting in Singapore. The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend this meeting, and is expected to focus on infrastructure projects, maritime security cooperation and discuss regional challenges including development.

Actress Manisha Koirala unveiled her book ‘Healed’, her personal story of a battle against ovarian cancer. Penned by the ‘1942: A Love Story’ actress with Neelam Kumar, the book is subtitled How cancer gave me a new life. ‘Healed’ is the powerful, moving and deeply personal story of actor Manisha Koirala’s battle against ovarian cancer.


Former Supreme Court judge S N Phukan passed away
Former Supreme Court judge Judge Sailendu Nath Phukan passed away at 83. He was also Chief Justices of Himachal Pradesh & Odisha High Courts. Afterwards, he was promoted as a judge of the Supreme Court in January 1999 and he retired in 2002.
