BIS names Siddharth Tiwari as Chief Representative for Asia
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) announced a new addition to its team with Siddharth Tiwari joining as the Chief Representative for Asia and the Pacific. He succeeds Eli Remolona, who was the previous Chief Representative of the Asian Office who held this position from 2008 to 2018.


Flipkart co-founder CEO Binny Bansal steps down
Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal announced his resignation as the CEO of the group, effective immediately. The decision came to light after Flipkart and Walmart released a statement informing the same. The statement read, ‘Earlier today, Binny Bansal announced his resignation as CEO of Flipkart Group, effective immediately. Binny has been an important part of Flipkart since co-founding the company, but recent events risked becoming a distraction & Binny has made a decision to step down’.


Ministers Sadananda Gowda & Narendra Singh Tomar gets additional charge
After the demise of Union Minister Ananth Kumar, Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has got the additional charge of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Narendra Singh Tomar was assigned the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.


Dr Debabhuson Borah gets Munin Barkotoki Literary award
Munin Barkotoki Literary Award 2018 in Assam has been given to young writer-critic Dr Debabhuson Borah for his book on literary criticism titled ‘Nirbochon’. The Munin Barkotoki Memorial Trust announced the annual Award instituted to encourage young and promising writers in Assamese.


ISRO invites foreign experiments for 2023 Venus mission
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has issued an announcement of opportunity (AO) to international space scientists to propose their scientific payloads to be carried on its mission to Venus planned for 2023. This AO has a specific objective to identify important science experiments that are in line with the pre-selected proposals from India.


Czech Republic beats defending champion U.S. & win Fed Cup 2018 (tennis)
Czech Republic won the 2018 Fed Cup Trophy for the 6th time in eight years, in Czech Republic. Czech Republic defeated defending champion United States 3-0 in the final and won the 2018 Fed Cup.


14 November: World Diabetes Day
The World Diabetes Day is organized on 14 November throughout the world. The theme for World Diabetes Day 2018 and 2019 is ‘The Family and Diabetes’. The primary aim of the World Diabetes Day and World Diabetes Month 2018–19 campaign is to raise awareness of the impact that diabetes has on the family and to promote the role of the family in the management, care, prevention and education of the condition.


Veteran sports journalist Roshan Lal Sethi passes away
Sports journalist Roshan Lal Sethi died following a long term illness, at his residence in Delhi. He was 81 years old. In 1964, he started his career as a sports journalist with Motherland newspaper. Till 1975, he was associated with it as sports editor.
