Index of Industrial Production grows at 6.6% in July
According to the data released by Central Statistics Office (CSO), Index of Industrial production (IIP) grew at 6.6% in July on the back of good performance by the manufacturing sector and higher offtake of capital goods and consumer durables.


Justice Ranjan Gogoi appointed next chief justice of India
President of India Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as next Chief Justice of India as per Article 124 of the Constitution. He will assume office of Chief Justice after retirement of incumbent Chief Justice, Justice Dipak Misra.


D Shivakumar elected as ASCI Chairman
Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) appointed D Shivakumar, as its chairman for a term of 3 years. D Shivakumar, is the former head of PepsiCo India. He is currently the Group Executive President, Corporate Strategy at Aditya Birla Group.


Sawai Singh Shekhawat to be honoured with Meera Puruskar
Jaipur-based poet and writer Sawai Singh Shekhawat will be honoured with Meera Puruskar by Rajasthan Sahitya Academy for his contribution to Hindi literature. President of the academy Indushekhar Tatpurush informed that Shekhawat was selected for the Meera award, which is the highest award of the academy.


Radha Mohan Singh releases a profile booklet titled ‘NCDC- Assisting Cooperative. Always!’
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Radha Mohan Singh released a booklet titled ‘NCDC-Assisting Cooperatives. Always!’ in New Delhi. The booklet highlighted the role and activities assisted by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).


Udhayveer Singh wins gold in ISSF World Championship
Sixteen-year-old Udhayveer Singh has won an individual Gold Medal in Junior Men’s 25 metre pistol event in the World Shooting Championships in South Korea. He also spearheaded India to the team Gold. Singh shot a score of 587 in the individual competition to grab the Gold ahead American Henry Leverett and Korean Lee Jaekyoon.


Artist Mehlli Gobhai passes away
The Mumbai-based artist, Mehlli Gobhai has died at the age of 87 in a city hospital this morning. The artist was said to be ailing for a while and had been hospitalised for a month.
