UNICEF appoints Indian athlete Hima Das as India’s first ever Youth Ambassador
The United Nations Children’s Fund-India (UNICEF) appointed Asian Games gold-medalist sprinter Hima Das as India’s first ever Youth Ambassador. UNICEF India works along with the Central Government to ensure that children born in India get the best start in life, thrive and develop to his or her full potential.


Yes Bank chairman Ashok Chawla resigns
Ashok Chawla, Yes Bank’s non-executive chairman, stepped down with immediate effect. He resigned for the bank to find a new contender to fill in the Chairman’s duty. Apart from Yes bank, Chawla is also the chairman of National Stock Exchange since 2016. He had also worked as chairman of fair trade regulator CCI or Competition Commission of India.


India to top U.S. as 2nd-largest Carbon Spewer from power: IEA Report
The International Energy Agency in its latest report ‘World Energy Outlook’ stated that India will overtake the U.S. to become the world’s second-biggest emitter of carbon dioxide from the power sector before 2030.


Andhra govt reveals Amaravati art-inspired state emblem
The Andhra Pradesh government has finalised its new emblem for official use, five years after the state’s bifurcation in 2014. The state emblem, inspired by the Amaravati School of Art, consists of ‘Dhamma Chakka’ – ‘the Wheel of Law’ embellished with a ring of Triratnas alternating with pinnate leaves and precious stones. The National Emblem is placed at the bottom of the emblem.


26th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organization (COCSSO)
Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is organizing 26th Conference of Central and States Statistical Organizations at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. The theme of this year’s Conference is ‘Quality Assurance in Official Statistics’.


Messi won La Liga Player of the year award for 6th time
Barcelona star Lionel Messi was named La Liga Player of the Year, adding one more title to his abundant collection of soccer’s great honours. Messi lifted the prestigious award at FIFA’s gala ceremony in Zurich, outdistancing the last two winners, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.


Former England Midfielder Joe Cole announced retirement
Former England midfielder Joe Cole announced his retirement after making more than 700 appearances for seven clubs including West Ham and Chelsea. Cole was part of England’s so-called “Golden Generation”, playing alongside David Beckham, Wayne Rooney etc.


16 November: International Day for Tolerance
The International Day for Tolerance is an annual observance day declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. The year 1995 was chosen by the UNESCO to mark the year for tolerance as well as the 125th birthday anniversary of the Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi in order to promote the tolerance and non violence.
