India Ranked 143 Out of 162 Countries On 2015 Global Peace Index

India ranked 143 out of 162 countries on the Index, published by Australia-based global think-tank Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world, Syria the least peaceful. Pakistan ranked 154 with a ‘very low’ state of peace. The index gauged global peace using the level of safety and security in society, the extent of domestic and international conflict and the degree of militarization. In 2014, 69 countries reported deaths from terrorism, up from 60 in 2013, highlighting the increasing use of terror tactics.


Union Cabinet Approves Introduction of Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 June gave its approval to introduction of a new Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015. The Bill will be introduced in the Parliament. The new bill seeks to replace the existing Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 1986 with an aim to bring in more products under the mandatory standard regime and end the inspector raj.


Union Cabinet Approved Housing For All By 2022 Mission

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on 17 June gave its approval for Housing for All by 2022 Mission aimed at providing housing facilities to all eligible people in urban areas by 2022. It will be implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme and the States and Union Territories (UTs) are given greater autonomy in execution of the mission.


Union Cabinet Approves Solar Power Capacity Target To 1 lakh MW Under JNNSM By 2022

Union Cabinet approved increasing India’s solar power capacity target under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) to 1 Lakh Mega Watt (MW) by 2022.
