Tianhe-2′ World’s powerful Supercomputer

China’s Tianhe-2 supercomputer has emerged as the world’s most powerful supercomputer system for the sixth consecutive time. It was unveiled in 46th edition of Top500 list of supercomputers. It has held the title since June 2013. The Chinese Supercomputer is capable of performing calculations with processing speed of 33.86 petaflops per second.


New envoy to China – Vijay Gokhale

Senior diplomat Vijay Keshav Gokhale has been appointed as India’s Ambassador to China. He will replace Ashok Kantha, who was appointed as envoy to China in January 2014 for a two-year term i.e. till January 2016. Currently, Mr.Gokhale is serving as the India’s Ambassador to Germany. He is a 1981 batch India Foreign Service (IFS) officer.


Russia’s defence satellite EKS Kosmos-2510

Russia’s newest defence satellite named as EKS Kosmos-2510 was successfully launched into space and has been placed into its dedicated orbit. It was launched using Russian Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. EKS Kosmos-2510 is early warning satellite and has been deployed as the first satellite in a new fleet of 10 EKS military satellites to be launched by 2018 to form new defence system to detect enemy missile heading towards Russian territory.
