India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (Ind-Indo Corpat) commences at Port Blair
33rd edition of India, Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (Ind-Indo Corpat) commenced at Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It aimed at consolidating interoperability and strengthen existing bonds of friendship between India and Indonesia.


Indian-origin Jagmeet creates history, enters Canada parliament
Indian-origin Jagmeet Singh has created history in Canada when he made his debut in the House of Commons. He entered as the first non-white leader of a major opposition party in the country. Singh, the leader of the New Democratic Party, was elected in federal by-elections held on February 25. Prime Minister Trudeau responded by congratulating Singh for his entry into the Commons.


India one of world’s fastest growing large economies: IMF
India has been one of the fastest growing large economies in the world, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said. India has of course been one of the world’s fastest growing large economies of late, with growth averaging about 7 per cent over the past five years.


Hindi Writer Leeladhar Jagudi Awarded Vyas Samman 2018
Hindi writer Leeladhar Jagudi honoured with Vyas Samman 2018 for his collection of poems ‘Jitne Log Utne Prem’ published in 2013. The award carries an amount of Rs. 4 lakhs and it was started by K K Birla foundation in 1991. He has received Padma Shri in 2004 and Sahitya Akademi Award, Akashvani National Award and Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman as well.


RBI denies IDBI Banks proposal to name change
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has turned down IDBI Bank’s proposal to change its name following the transfer of a controlling 51% stake to LIC, insurance behemoth, from the government of India. The board of IDBI Bank had, last month, sought the RBI’s approval for a change in the name of the lender to either LIC IDBI Bank or LIC Bank following the takeover by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).


23 March: Martyr’s Day
The nation is observing Shaheed Diwas or Martyr’s Day on 23rd March. Each year, March 23, homage is paid to the great revolutionary fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who sacrificed their lives for the country. In the year 1929, on 8th of April he together with his companions threw bombs over the Central Legislative Assembly reading slogan ‘Inquilab Zindabad’.


India Clinch SAFF Women’s Championship For 5th Time
India has lifted South Asian Football Federation SAFF Women’s Championship fifth time in a row. Keeping its winning streak India defeated host Nepal in the final by 3-1 in Biratnagar, Nepal. India’s Dalmia Chhibber scored first goal of the match in 26th minute.


India-Pakistan war hero, Captain M.N. Samant died aged 89 years
Captain Mohan Narayan Rao Samant of the Indian Navy, a 1971 India-Pakistan war hero, who was honoured by Bangladesh as a ‘Friend of Liberation War’, has passed away at the age of 89. The Maha Vir Chakra awardee was instrumental in India waging a covert maritime war against shipping in the then East Pakistan.
