Mario Benitez elected as Paraguay’s president

Conservative former senator Mario Abdo Benítez has been elected as the president of Paraguay. Benitez garnered 46.44% of the vote, compared with 42.74% for his main rival Efrain Alegre.

Diu Smart City has become the first city in India, that runs on 100% renewable energy during daytime setting a new benchmark for other cities to become clean and green. Diu had been importing 73% of its power from Gujarat until last year.

India Wins 8th South Asian Judo Championship

India has won 8th South Asian Judo Championship held in Lalitpur, Nepal. On the concluding day of the championship, Indian women and men won team events. India topped the medal tally winning 10 Gold and 3 Bronze medals in the individual category. Host Nepal remained second and Pakistan got third place.


Rafael Nadal wins 31st Monte Carlo Masters Title

Rafael Nadal (Spain) defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori by 6-3, 6-2 in the Monte Carlo Masters final won his 31st Masters title. It is also Nadal’s 11th Monte Carlo Masters title in 14 years.


India highest recipient of Remittances in 2017: World Bank

According to recently released Migration and Development Brief by World Bank, India has retained top position as recipient of remittances with about $69 billion in 2017. India was followed by China ($64 billion), Philippines ($33 billion), Mexico ($31 billion), Nigeria ($22 billion) and Egypt ($20 billion).


Mohamed Salah crowned PFA Player of the Year

Liverpool and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah was named Player of the Year by England’s Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA). Salah has become the first person in Premier League history to claim three Player of the Month awards in the same season.
