National Voter’s Day being observed on 25th January

Today, marks the seventh National Voters day Since 2011, January 25th is observed as National Voters day, this day reminds the responsibility vested with every citizen towards voting and also the power of every single voter. The objective of the day is “to encourage and empower the youth” to participate in voting and to make them enroll in voter’s list if they have crossed 18 years of age.

David Boon, Matthew Hayden Join Australian Hall of Fame

Australians openers David Boon, Matthew Hayden and the late Betty Wilson will be joined into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. Top-order batsmen Boon and Hayden were key figures who played more than 100 tests for Australia, while all rounder Wilson was female cricketer, ahead of her time, Hall of Fame Chairman.

Venezuelan honours Vladimir Putin with Hugo Chavez Peace Prize

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday announced the creation of peace Prize in honour of late socialist leader Hugo Chavez, and said he was awarding it to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The announcement comes on the same day that the Nobel Committee awarded its annual peace Prize to Juan Manuel  Santos, President of neighbouring Colombia, for his role in negotiating a peace agreement with Marxist FARC rebels.


The announcement of Padma awards 2017 must have bring a smile on the face of all winners. Indian Cricket Captain Virat kohli ,  Indian freestyle wrestler and Olympic hero Sakshi Malik, singer Kailash Kher,Singer Anuradha Paudwal has also been awarded with most respected awards.

NCP leader Sharad Pawar, BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, classical singer KJ Yesudas, former MP CM SL Patwa have been awarded Padma Vibhushan. In total, 89 people have got the Padma awards this year.

India, UK Join Hands to Tackle Delhi Air Pollution Risks

India, has partnered with the British experts over a project that aims to study the air pollution level in Delhi and health problems associated it. The project “ASAP- Delhi An Integrated study of Air Pollutant Sources in Delhi National Capital Region would be led by University of Birmingham and would also involve experts from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, the Indian National physical Laboratory and University of surrey.

Union Govt launched Rub SIS for  Rubber Growers

Commerce & Industry Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman launched Rubber Soil Information system (Rub SIS), an online system for recommending application of appropriate mix of fertilizers to the specific plantations of rubber growers  depending upon this soil nature. Rub SIS is developed by Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) under the Rubber Board in Collaboration with three agencies  like Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Kerala.
