Vice Admiral Karambir Singh appointed as next Navy Chief
Vice Admiral Karambir Singh will be the next Chief of Naval Staff. He will be appointed after Admiral Sunil Lanba, who retires in May this year, vacates office. He is serving as the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. Commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1980, the officer earned his wings as a helicopter pilot in 1982.


Oman Signs Agreement Allowing United States Military to Use Its Ports
Oman has signed an agreement with the United States of America that allow American ships and warplanes to take advantage of his ports and airports. The framework agreement is aimed at bolstering Omani-American military relations.


Naresh Goyal Steps Down From Jet Airways Board
Jet Airways Founders Naresh Goyal and wife Anita Goyal have stepped down from the board of the cash-strapped airline. With this, Naresh Goyal ceases to be Chairman. Another director Kevin Knight has also resigned. The board has accepted their resignations.


Govt exceeds disinvestment target for current fiscal by Rs 5,000 cr
The government has exceeded its disinvestment target for the current fiscal by Rs 5,000 crore, taking the total proceeds to Rs 85,000 crore. This is the second highest disinvestment proceeds in a financial year after the government last fiscal mopped up a little over Rs 1 lakh crore in 2017-18.


India Ranks 76th on WEF Global Energy Transition Index
India has moved up 2 places to rank 76th on a global energy transition index. The annual list, compiled by Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF), has ranked 115 economies on how well they are able to balance energy security and access with environmental sustainability and affordability.


Aamir Khan Appointed as PhonePe’s Brand Ambassador
PhonePe, India’s fastest growing payments platform announced appointed of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan as its brand Ambassador. PhonePe is also an official co-presenting sponsor for the television broadcast of VIVO IPL 2019, and will be launching a series of new TV ads featuring Aamir Khan during this season.

Suresh Raina becomes first cricketer to score 5,000 runs in IPL history
Chennai Super Kings’ Suresh Raina has become the first ever cricketer to reach 5,000 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL). He reached the landmark in the opening match of the 12th edition of the IPL against RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore).
