P.V. Bharathi Appointed MD and CEO of Corporation Bank
P V Bharathi has been appointed as managing director and chief executive officer of the Corporation Bank. Bharathi is at present Executive Director, Canara Bank. She will replace Jai Kumar Garg. Birupaksha Mishra and Balakrishna Alse S have been appointed as executive director in the Corporation Bank and the Oriental Bank of Commerce, respectively.


PM Modi releases Rs 100 commemorative coin in honour of ex-PM Vajpayee
On the eve of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 94th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a 100 commemorative coin in the memory of the former premier. The front of the Rs 100 coin features the National Emblem of India along with ‘Satyamev Jayate’ in Devanagari script inscribed below. The reverse side of the Rs 100 coin features a portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana Launched in Uttarakhand
‘Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana’ has been launched in Uttarakhand. Under the scheme, each household in the state will be able to avail medical treatment of up to 5 lakh rupees annually. The scheme will benefit 23 lakh households and cover 1,350 critical diseases. Launching the Yojna in Dehradun, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat distributed scheme-related golden cards to beneficiaries.


India Takes Over Operations Of Chabahar Port in Iran
India Ports Global Limited Company has opened its office and took over operations at the Shaheed Behesti port at Chabahar. It happened during the occasion of the first meeting of the follow-up committee for implementation of the trilateral Chabahar agreement between India, Afghanistan and Iran.


Experts call to revisit ban on Plastic in Tamil Nadu
The government of Tamil Nadu on World Environment day 2018 on 5th June had announced that it would ban the use of plastic items, including non-biodegr adable bags, from January 1, 2019, with some exceptions. Plastic was allowed only for only milk, oil, medicine packets and other items of basic needs.


Paddy Ashdown: Ex-Liberal Democrats Leader Passes Away
Centrist politician Paddy Ashdown has died aged 77 after a short illness. Ashdown, who was born in India and moved to Northern Ireland as a young child, headed up the Lib Dems for more than a decade. He quit in 1999 and went on to become the European Union’s special representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
