Govindaraj re-elected BFI president
K. Govindaraj was unanimously re-elected as president of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) at its annual general-body meeting in Bengaluru. Chander Mukhi Sharma was re-elected secretary-general. A new six-team women’s league would be held inside the next three months, declared Govindaraj.


Pakistan approved plan to open Sharada Temple Corridor to Hindu Pilgrims from India
Sharada Peeth is an ancient Hindu temple and cultural site in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir (PcK). The Sharada Peeth corridor, when opened, will be the second religious tract after the Kartarpur corridor in PcK that will connect the two neighbouring nations. Sharada Peeth is also one of the three famous holy sites for Kashmiri Pandits, the other two being the Martand Sun Temple in Anantnag and the Amarnath temple.


N S Srinath appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Karur Vysya Bank
karur Vysya Bank appointed N S Srinath as Non-Executive Independent Chairman for a period of 3 years. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Reserve Bank of India and the Shareholders of the Bank. Srinath is graduate in Science and Law and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He is also a certificate holder in Industrial Finance.


India achieves 84% reduction in TB deaths among HIV patients: UN
India has achieved an 84 per cent reduction in tuberculosis deaths among people living with HIV by 2017. According to the Joint United Nations Programme on the UNAIDS, it is the highest recorded decline among over 20 nations and it is also three years ahead of the 2020 deadline.


President Kovind Honoured With Croatia’s Highest Award
President Ram Nath Kovind has been awarded the Grand Order of King Tomislav with Sash and Grand Star by the President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic for his exceptional contribution to the advancement of overall relations and development of mutual cooperation between India and Croatia and for promoting friendship and partnership between the people of both the countries.


27 March: World Theatre Day
World Theatre Day celebrated annually on the 27th March by ITI Centres and the international theatre community. It was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). On this day several national and international theatre events are organised. A celebrated figure of the theatre is also invited by ITI who speaks and motivates people about the theme of Theatre, a culture of peace and circulate the message in the whole world.


Manu Bhaker & Saurabh Chaudhary Won Gold Medal
In Shooting, Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary have won a Gold medal in the 10-meter Air Pistol Mixed team event at the 12th Asian Airgun Championship at Taoyuan in Taipei. The pair made it to the Final after smashing the world record in the qualification.


Scott Walker, Experimental Pop Hero, Passes Away
Scott Walker, one of the most innovative and enduring songwriters of the 20th century, has died aged 76. Walker first came to fame in the mid-1960s in the group the Walker Brothers, before creating a string of acclaimed solo albums – Scott, Scott 2, Scott 3 and Scott 4 – that are regarded as some of the most adventurous and boundary-pushing pop albums of the era.
