S Christopher is new DRDO chief

Eminent scientist S Christopher has been appointed as Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for a two-year term. Christopher is currently working as  Distinguished Scientist and Programme Director (airborne early warning and control system) and Director, Centre for Air-Borne Systems in the DRDO.


Yaduveer Raj Crowned Maharaja of Mysuru

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar, the adopted son of Pramoda Devi Wodeyar, was crowned as the new Maharaja of Mysuru, a titular and nominal head of the 600-year-old Wadiyar dynasty in southern India. The coronation ceremony was held at the Wadiyar dynasty’s Amba Vilas Palace in Mysuru. He is 23-year-old and economics graduate from the University of Massachusetts, US. After his coronation, he was rechristened with full title name of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. He also became the custodian of more than 1,500 acres of land and palaces of Wadiyar dynasty in Karnataka. Yaduveer Raj Urs succeeds his grand uncle Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar who had died in December 2013.


Abhinav Bindra Becomes Fourth Indian Shooter To Qualify For 2016 Rio Olympics

Abhinav Bindra  became the fourth Indian  to qualify for 2016 Rio Olympics by finishing sixth in a field of 132 shooters with 122.4 points at the ISSF World Cup in Munich. Earlier, Gagan Narang, Jitu Rai and Apurvi Chandela were the Indian shooters who had qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in various shooting disciplines.


Indian-origin Diplomat Appointed Singapore’s Envoy To Sri Lanka

Indian- origin businessman and diplomat S Chandra Das was appointed as Resident High Commissioner to Sri Lanka by Singapore Government. Earlier, Das had served as served as Singapore’s Trade Representative in the USSR erstwhile Soviet Union from 1970 to 1972.
