Christine appointed as envoy on Myanmar by UN
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Christine Schraner Burgener of Switzerland as his new special envoy on Myanmar. Burgener was the Ambassador of Switzerland to Germany since 2015.
IndiGo chief Aditya Ghosh resigns
Aditya Ghosh resigned as the President and whole-time director of IndiGo. While Interglobe Chairman Rahul Bhatia has been appointed as the interim CEO of the company, Greg Taylor will be appointed as president and CEO of the company.
Google ranked as most trusted internet brand in India: Report
Online search engine Google is the most trusted Internet brand in India as per the TRA Brand Trust Report 2018. With 1.2 trillion searches per year, Google has become the first port of call for all things on the Internet. Google was followed by Facebook, Amazon and eBay. The biggest falls in trust were seen by Snapdeal, who fell by 142 ranks over last year. The top trust gainers this year were Netflix (up 506 ranks over last year).
US senate approves Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State
The US Senate voted to approve former CIA director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state, after a bruising battle by Democrats against President Donald Trump’s nominee. The approval came in time for Pompeo to lead the US delegation to NATO foreign minister talks in Brussels this weekend and to arrange a summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the coming months.

Bradley Cooper to receive 2018 American Cinematheque Award
Four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper will receive the 32nd annual American Cinematheque Award. The Hollywood organisation will honour Cooper for his achievements in film, which include three consecutive Oscar nominations for his roles in 2012’s “Silver Linings Playbook” 2013’s “American Hustle,” and 2014’s “American Sniper.
Gujarati poet Sitanshu Yashaschandra chosen for 2017 Saraswati Samman
Gujarati poet, playwright and academic Sitanshu Yashaschandra was selected for 2017 Saraswati Samman for his collection of verses (poetry) titled “Vakhar” published in 2009. It was 27 edition of the award.
Shooter Gauri Sheoran made brand ambassador for Haryana
The Haryana government has appointed international shooter Gauri Sheoran the brand ambassador for its two health-related programmes.
