Mirabai Chanu wins gold medal at IWFWWC

Mirabai Chanu became the first Indian in over two decades to claim a gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championship in Anaheim, USA. Chanu lifted 85kg in snatch and 109kg in clean and jerk to total an impressive 194kg in the women’s 48kg, in the process setting a new national record.


Archers Abhishek Verma and Jyoti Surekha Vennam bags Gold and Bronze medal in Asia Archery Championship

Abhishek Verma won a gold medal and Jyothi Surekha Vennam a bronze medal at the Asian Archery Championship. The tournament began in 1980 and it was first hosted in India. Countries such as South Korea, China, Japan and India compete, with many of the world’s leading archers representing them.


India and Iatly sign MoU for enhanced cooperation in health sector

The agreement was signed by Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare JP Nadda and Health Minister of Italy Beatrice Lorenzin. The MoU is aimed at establsihing comprehensive inter-ministerial and inter-institutional cooperation between the two countries in the field of health.


Pankaj Advani secures IBSF World Snooker Championship title

Pankaj Advani continued his strong show on global stage by winning the 15-frame IBSF World Snooker Championship at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha. It was the Indian star’s 18th world title. Advani defeated Amir Sarkhosh of Iran 8-2 in the final.


Assam girl wins Best Boxer title in World Youth Women’s Boxing Championship

Ankushita Boro, a young girl from Assam, has done India proud after winning ‘The Best Boxer’ title in World Youth Women’s boxing Championship held in Guwahati.


E Chandrasekharan Nair passes away

Veteran Communist Party of India leader and former Minister E. Chandrasekharan Nair, died following a chest congestion inThiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was admitted to Sree Chitra Institute of Medical Sciences. He died on 29th November 2017. He was elected to Assembly six times in 1957, 1967, 1977, 1980, 1987 and 1996. He had served as Minister thrice under the Late E.K.Nayanar.


SAUBHAGYA Scheme Launched in Manipur

The Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) was launched in Manipur, by Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh and N. Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur. A total of approximately 1.75 lakh households (1.62 lakh rural households and 0.13 lakh urban households) of Manipur are proposed to be included under the Scheme.


Hwasong-15: North Korea tests most powerful ICBM

North Korea successfully launched Hwasong-15, a new type of nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). It is North Korea’s most powerful ICBM that can reach entire eastern US seaboard and Washington. The ICBM was launched from near Pyongyang and had reached height of 4,475 km and traveled 950 km before it accurately hitting a sea target. It landed inside of Japan’s economic exclusion zone (EEZ) in Sea of Japan, about 250 km west of Aomori, which is on northern part of Japan’s main island of Honshu.


Skill India partners with Airbnb to Upskill hospitality Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s implementation arm National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skill Council (THSC) signed a tripartite a MoU with Airbnb to provide hospitality skills training to hospitality micro-entrepreneurs in India. Through the partnership, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Airbnb, NSDC and THSC will work together to create an accredited skill development module for hospitality entrepreneurs offering homestay facilities, unique accommodations and local experiences.

Popular Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Abi has passed away. The actor, who is best known for films like Mazhavil Koodaram, Kireedamillatha Rajakkanmar, Mimics Action 500, Aniyathipraavu and Rasikan, etc.


GDP growth recovers to 6.3 pct in second quarter of FY18

The data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation estimated GDP for the second quarter (July-September) Q2 of 2017-18. According to it, india’s Gross Domestic Products (GDP) surged by 6.3 percent in the September quarter, thus indicating healing in the Indian economy from the shake off of Demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST) last year.


Former India women’s cricketer, coach Sreerupa passes away

Former India women’s cricket team coach and batswoman Sreerupa Bose (Mukherjee) has passed away due to massive cardiac arrest. She was 66.
