Union Minister Raosaheb Danve Resigned
Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on 5 March resigned from the Union Council of Ministers to focus on his responsibilities as president of the Maharashtra unit of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is a 4-time member of Lok Sabha representing the Jalna constituency from the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Danve had started his political career from panchayat level and was actively associated with the cooperative movement of the state. He was also a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bhokardan Constituency and represented it twice.
PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Two Units Of Singaji Thermal Power Plant In Khandwa
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5 March inaugurated two 600 MW units of the Singaji Thermal Power Project at Dongliya village Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh.The first phase of the Singaji Thermal Power project is of 1200 mega watt capacity.The project will give impetus to the state government’s ‘Atal Jyoti Abhiyan’, which aims at providing 24 X 7 power supply across the state.
Sri Lanka Suspends China Port City Project
The Sri Lankan government on 5 March temporarily suspended work on the construction of a controversial USD 1.5 billion Chinese port city project in Colombo. The decision was taken in Cabinet meeting chaired by Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe based upon the Interim Report submitted by a cabinet sub-committee.
