19 NRIs honourned With Light Of India Awards
“Columbia University professor and economist Jagdish Bhagwati and noted author anitav ghosh are among 19 persons winning the Light of India awards recognizing excellence and exemplary achievement of Indians living abroad.
PetroFed Awards for 2011
The annual PetroFed Oil & Gas Industry Awards for 2011 for excellence in performance in various categories were presented by the Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, S Jaipal Reddy here on 8June 2012. The awards for performance during fiscal 2010-11 were in 11 categories. The leading PetroFed award winners were Indian Oil and ONGC. Indian Oil bagged the “Leading Oil & Gas Corporate of the Year award”,the Oil & Gas Marketing – “Company of the Year award and the one forProject Management ” . ONGC won the awards for Human Resources Management, Environmental Sustainability and the Innovator of the Year award by their team.
IIFA Awards 2012
13th IIFA Awards 2012 schedule from 7th Jun to 9th Jun, 2012 as held in the beautiful city of Singapore . The list of winners has just been announced and as expected, Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan have once again won the Best Actor and Best Actress award respectively. The Best movie and director too have been predictable this year, as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which swept the IIFA 2012 technical awards, has won in both categories.

Sachin Tendulkar Honoured By “Wisden India”
Sachin Tendulkar won “Wisden India” maiden Outstanding Achievement award for completing a century of 100 international hundreds, in Dubai on 11 June 2012. he is the first recipent of the Wisden India Outstanding Achievement award.The legendary batsman was presented a trophy at an event organised by FidelisWorld. The trophy was made from crystal, it resembles a cricket ball resting on the open pages of a book.
Israeli Micro-Irrigation Innovation Wins World Food Prize
This year’s winner of world Food Prize(WFP)in israeli scientist Daniel Hillel has pioneered a method of bringing water to crops in arid and dry-land regions.Dr.Hillel was gven the prestigeous award, established in 1987 by NObel Peace Prize winner Noruran Borlaug.
Ogilvy Mumbai Wins Effie Award

R.K.Pachauri Gets Mexican Honour
The Director General of the energy and Resources Institute(TERI) Dr.R.K.Pachauri, has been conferred the Mexican order of the Aztec Eagle by the Mexican president, during the G-20 summit in Los Cabos.He was honoured along with MS.Margaret chan, Director General of the world health organization.
Yarlagadda Presented Award For Promoting Hindi
Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Hindi Academy Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad was honoures with Ganga sharan Singh Award by President Pratibha singh patil in New Delhi on 20 June 2012.The President also gave away the award,instituted by center’s kendriya Hindi Santhan,at a gli-hering ceremony at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan to Girish karnad,Shyam Benagal and Madhur Bahndarkar,among others their contribution to the promotion of the national language.

Diversified Business firm ITC ltd on 21 June said it has received the ‘2012 World Business & Development Award’ at the on going Rio+20 united nations summit in Brazil.The award has been given for the transformational rural initiatives in social & farm forestry programmes in India , undertaken by the company.
Kolkata Solar Physicist Wins Prestigious US Prize
Dibyendu Nandi of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata has been awarded the prestigious Karen Harvey Prize for 2012 by the American Astronomical Society (AAS).The first scientist from the Asia Pacific to get the prize, Nandy was awarded for his “advances in the use of kinematic dynamo models to elucidate the typical and atypical solar cycle, and for his outstanding leadership within the solar physics and space climate communities.”

Tata powers Jojobera thermal power station at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand won the golden peacock environment Management award for 2012 . The award will be presented in New Delhi during the 14th world congress on environment Management on 7-8 July.
City Firm Bags Global Packaging Awards
Ecoblis, a Hyderabad based firm engaged in making innovative packaging products, bagged three awards at the international packaging excellence awards competition held in Croatia. The jury consisted of 33 country representatives and a representative from the international packaging press organization.

Eklavya Award
The Government of Gujarat of June 5,2012 presented Eklavya Award of the year 2010-11 to Indian Cricketer Yusuf Pathan in Vododara. Munaf patel also received the award. Eklavya Award is highest award resented by Gujarat Government in the area id sports. Both recipients received cheque of Rs.1 lakh and a trophy.
Benjamin Franklin Award
US based India chief Vikas Khanna’s cookbook is among the winners of America’s prestigious Benjamin Franklin Awards on June 7,2012 , Pakistani civil servant Irfan Hussain also received the award for his book ‘ Fatal Faultlines’ in Politics and current affairs category while vikas khanna’s book was ‘Flavours First: An Indian Chef’s Culinary Journey’.
International Peace Award
Two India human rights activists –Binayak sen and Bulu Imam will be honoured with the International peace Award given by Gandhi Foundation at the House of Lords. The award was instituted in 1998 by Suruv Hoda and Diana Schumacher with support of the foundation’s President Lord Attenborough.
Common Wealth Literary Prize
Writers from Srilanka and New Aealand on June 8,2012 won the common wealth Foundation’s literary Prizes for 2012.shehan karunatilaka from srilanka picked up the common wealth short story prize was won by Newzealnd’a Emma Martin for ‘Two Girls in a Boat’.
