Minnale Re-release Date
Minnale is set to re-release in theatres on 13 February 2026, timed neatly as a pre-Valentine’s Day special and as part of the film’s 25-year celebration.
The romantic classic first hit screens back in February 2001, and this new outing is coming in a digitally remastered version, positioned very clearly as “come cry-smile-swoon again, but this time in polished 4K.”
Distributors and theatre chains have been promoting the Minnale re-release date with nostalgic tags, teaser posters, and short clips, banking on the fact that a whole generation who watched it as college kids now has the disposable income (and families) to go back and relive that era on the big screen.
Minnale Cast
The Minnale cast remains exactly as fans remember it: R. Madhavan, Reema Sen and Abbas in the central triangle, surrounded by a supporting team that gives the film its mix of campus energy and emotional weight.
Madhavan plays Rajesh, the slightly reckless romantic who falls for Reena (Reema Sen) and chooses the most chaotic strategy possible to win her over; Abbas steps in as Rajiv, the actual fiancé and old college rival, turning what could have been a straightforward love story into something more layered and messy.
The supporting cast includes comedian Vivek, whose scenes became mini cult favourites, and a set of friends and family members who anchor the story in a recognisable early-2000s Chennai world.

Minnale is a Tamil romantic drama directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, following Rajesh, a young man who impersonates his former college rival to woo Reena, the woman he has fallen for but never properly met.
The plot sounds risky even on paper: Rajesh pretends to be her fiancé (whom she hasn’t met yet), gets close to her under false identity, and then has to deal with the fallout when the truth – and the real man – inevitably shows up.
What keeps the film from feeling cruel is the way it leans into vulnerability, guilt and genuine affection, letting the characters stumble, apologise and grow instead of treating the deception as a simple prank.
