Will There Be a Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?
Yes, there will be a season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms; HBO has already renewed the Game of Thrones prequel for a second season, with a planned release in 2027.
@westerosies shared on X a yearly release schedule for the Game of Thrones spinoffs, listing A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 and House of the Dragon Season 3 for 2026, followed by A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 in 2027.
The renewal was announced in November 2025, even before season 1 premiered in January 2026, which is a pretty strong sign of confidence from the network in Dunk and Egg’s potential to carry their own corner of Westeros for a while.
Official comments from HBO drama head Francesca Orsi and showrunner Ira Parker have also sketched out a broader roadmap: the creative team is treating A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as a three-season story that will adapt George R.R. Martin’s three published Dunk and Egg novellas The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight with each season built around one tale.
Season 1, currently airing with six half-hour-ish episodes, covers The Hedge Knight, and season 2 is expected to continue Dunk and Egg’s journey with the next novella once production cycles through, aiming for a much shorter gap between seasons than House of the Dragon thanks to its more intimate scale and smaller episode runtimes.
Behind the scenes, Martin has even shared outlines for many more Dunk and Egg adventures, and interviews hint that HBO and Parker have at least daydreamed about taking these two characters much further if the first three seasons land well so, while only season 2 is formally locked in right now, the door is very much open for this to become a long-running fixture in the Game of Thrones universe rather than a one-and-done experiment.
